- Arc Raiders design lead Virgil Watkins expresses that Embark Studios is satisfied with the current endgame loop but aims to enhance the PvE experience.
- He mentions, "continuing to escalate that is where we're looking at growing next."
- The developer also discussed the massive Arcs visible in the background, though he could not confirm if they would become killable bosses.
Embark Studios is exploring ways to evolve Arc Raiders' endgame loop by enhancing the PvE (player versus environment) aspect.
This insight comes from an interview with GamesRadar+, where Watkins discussed the current endgame scenario involving the defeat of Queens and Matriarchs to acquire better weapons.
Watkins noted that while the team is "pretty happy" with the current state, he believes they cannot rely on it indefinitely.
He stated, "If we introduce yet another six-legged giant spidery robot, it’s like, 'Okay, we got it.' So, we are looking at how to evolve these experiences for players in the PvE realm."
Watkins also observed that players have become increasingly sophisticated in their strategies for taking down drones, and he believes that "continuing to escalate that is where we're looking at growing next."
Regarding the enormous Arcs that roam in the background, referred to by some players as "The Emperor," Embark currently has no plans to make them killable bosses due to concerns about server stability. While it presents a technical challenge, the idea remains intriguing.
"We want to go wherever's practical for us, or wherever feels fun, but we also face the practical side of whether this will overload the server. Can it support these kinds of features?" Watkins explained.
"Our ambitions are definitely large, and while I can’t promise you’ll encounter one anytime soon, you can see the giant walking ones in the background and so on."
