This winter, fans of murder mysteries are in for a treat with multiple new offerings. Alongside the airing of The Traitors in both the US and UK, Netflix has just released Agatha Christie's Seven Dials, a captivating three-part miniseries.
While these two shows may seem worlds apart—one being a reality competition and the other a high-quality crime drama—they share elements of intrigue, secret identities, and dramatic accusations, making them a thrilling combination.
Following the success of the first season of The Celebrity Traitors, which aired last year, a second season has already been confirmed.
Although the official cast list remains under wraps until the last moment, Seven Dials stars Mia McKenna-Bruce and Edward Bluemel are keen to participate, albeit with some trepidation.
'If I was a traitor, I think I'd have a panic attack every day'
“Absolutely! Are you kidding?” McKenna-Bruce exclaimed when asked if they would join Celebrity Traitors. She humorously suggested that their roles in Seven Dials could serve as an audition for the BBC reality show.
“We were discussing it earlier, and we would definitely be crying all the time. We’re just too empathetic and emotional, feeling guilty throughout,” she added.
Bluemel chimed in, “It would be the worst two weeks of my life. If I were a traitor, I think I would have a panic attack every day. It sounds insane, but it’s the kind of experience no one could refuse. It would be so much fun and iconic.”
As a casting agent for the BBC, I would not hesitate to bring them on board. Their chemistry during our conversation felt like a lively sleepover, filled with excitement and overlapping voices, promising a delightful chaos.
While their personalities differ from their characters, Lady Eileen Brent and Jimmy Thesiger, the question remains: are their detective skills sharp enough?
“My challenge would be not wanting to vote anyone off,” McKenna-Bruce admitted. “I’d feel terrible if I made the wrong choice. Plus, I often second-guess myself, even with simple names like 'Tom'—I’d probably spell it T-H-O-M.”
Having already binge-watched Agatha Christie's Seven Dials and with only three episodes of The Traitors UK Season 4 left, I find myself clinging to this reality TV fantasy. I eagerly await the return of The Celebrity Traitors—it’s as essential as water to me, so I hope the BBC is listening.
