Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo Cinema: Two-minute review

The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo Cinema is revolutionizing instant photography with its innovative 3-in-1 design, serving as a stills camera, instant printer, and the first Instax model capable of shooting video. This hybrid camera promises a delightful experience for users.

Similar to its predecessor, the Mini Evo, this model features a 5MP digital camera with a 28mm f/2 lens. Photos are saved on a micro SD card and can be printed instantly on Instax Mini paper using an analog-style lift and twist lever.

Its design is reminiscent of a vintage Super 8 camera, inspired by Fujifilm’s ‘Fujica Single-8‘ from 1965, making it comfortable to hold with the shutter button conveniently placed for easy access.

While the traditional Instax photography experience is appealing, the video features are particularly captivating. The camera includes the Eras Dial™, which offers a variety of looks inspired by different decades over the last century. Users can choose from 100 styles, adjusting the strength of each effect for both photos and videos.

Fujifilm has a history of introducing innovative controls in its cameras, and the Eras Dial™ is a testament to this trend, enhancing the creative potential of the device.

Videos can also be printed as Instax Mini photos, with a QR code linking to the video clip stored on Fujifilm’s servers. This feature adds a unique touch to the sharing experience, allowing users to create short video edits through the free Instax Mini Evo app.

Included in the box are the camera, a viewfinder eye cup for the 1.5-inch LCD screen, a grip extension, and a strap. Despite its toy-like appearance, the Mini Evo Cinema has a premium feel, with solid construction throughout.

However, during initial testing, the camera's performance was somewhat sluggish, with delays when recording videos. A full review will provide more insights into its capabilities.

Overall, the Mini Evo Cinema stands out as a compelling option for those seeking a fun and engaging instant camera experience. Its combination of retro design and modern features makes it a noteworthy addition to Fujifilm's lineup.
