  • ExpressVPN launches a new business VPN plan
  • ExpressVPN for Teams is an upgrade of Volume Licensing
  • Plans start with a 25% discount, rising to 50% for larger teams

ExpressVPN, a leading name in online privacy, has officially launched ExpressVPN for Teams, a dedicated service tailored for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that need robust security without the complexities of enterprise solutions.

While the provider has been a popular choice in our best VPN guide for consumers, businesses have previously had to manage individual licenses. ExpressVPN for Teams aims to streamline this process, allowing managers to deploy the service across their workforce and directly compete with established B2B solutions like NordLayer.

With the rise of remote and hybrid work, the demand for user-friendly business VPNs has surged. Many small teams lack dedicated IT security resources, making them vulnerable when employees connect from public networks. ExpressVPN for Teams seeks to address this issue by combining consumer-grade usability with essential administrative controls.

What is ExpressVPN for Teams?

Essentially, ExpressVPN for Teams is an evolution of the company's Volume Licensing program, designed for small and growing teams, but with enhanced capabilities. The service requires a minimum of five licenses and features a new centralized admin dashboard.

This dashboard is a key differentiator. Administrators can now bulk-upload users, assign licenses, and track renewals from a single interface. According to the company, "assigning licenses to 100 users now takes just minutes."

Importantly, the user experience remains consistent. Employees will continue to use the award-winning ExpressVPN client they are familiar with, which supports Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux. This familiarity should reduce the onboarding challenges often associated with corporate software.

Shay Peretz, Chief Operating Officer at ExpressVPN, explained the transition as "an upgrade built from real feedback." He noted, "Modern businesses told us they needed simpler license management and a platform that can scale with their teams."

Dedicated IPs and Security Features

In addition to management enhancements, the new service introduces Dedicated IP for Teams, a crucial feature for businesses that require specific IP addresses for access to internal servers or sensitive cloud resources.

Unlike the dynamic IP addresses typically assigned to standard users, which change with each connection, a dedicated IP remains constant. ExpressVPN offers this feature for teams on one- or two-year plans, with a customizable setup tailored to organizational needs.

The business tier utilizes the same infrastructure as the consumer product, which includes:

  • Lightway Protocol: A custom-built protocol designed for speed and reliability.
  • TrustedServer Technology: RAM-only servers that erase all data upon reboot.
  • AES-256 Encryption: The industry standard for securing data traffic.

A Crowded Market

The launch positions ExpressVPN in direct competition with Nord Security, the provider behind the popular NordVPN, which introduced its business-focused solution in 2019. While NordLayer has had time to develop complex features like network segmentation and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), ExpressVPN appears to be targeting a different segment of the market: simplicity.

By emphasizing ease of use and rapid deployment, ExpressVPN for Teams is tailored for SMBs seeking straightforward protection rather than a complicated network overhaul.

"ExpressVPN for Teams brings powerful, audited VPN technology directly to organizations in a way that's simple to implement and scale," said Zac Eller, General Manager of B2B at ExpressVPN.

The service is now available, with volume discounts starting at 25% and reaching up to 50% as organizations grow.
