- HBO has released a new 'in the weeks ahead' trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
- It arrived after the new Game of Thrones TV show's premiere
- The teaser contains some big spoilers for the high fantasy series
A new 'in the weeks ahead' trailer has been unveiled for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (AKotSK) – and I'm genuinely surprised by how much it spoils.
Released by HBO after the show premiered on January 18/19, the two-minute teaser includes footage from all six episodes of this season. While it doesn't reveal one of the biggest surprises in The Hedge Knight, the book that AKotSK season 1 adapts, the trailer certainly does not hold back on its narrative.
If you chose not to watch the trailer due to potential spoilers, rest assured I won't describe the footage here. This way, you can enjoy the Game of Thrones prequel's plot as each new episode airs – be sure to check out my AKotSK episode 1 guide for release dates.
However, it is peculiar that the plot of the HBO Max Original's debut season is largely laid out in the latest teaser.
Admittedly, The Hedge Knight is a brief book. At just 66 pages, this novella by George R.R. Martin, the first in the 'Dunk and Egg' trilogy, pales in comparison to the lengthy volumes of Martin's main Thrones series.
Considering the length of some of those novels, there were numerous plot twists and significant reveals that HBO could have withheld from trailers for previous Game of Thrones seasons. Thus, it wasn't necessary to include the most significant moments in this teaser.
While the award-winning network likely aimed to entice viewers with this AKotSK season 1 trailer, it seems excessive to reveal so much footage. Many viewers have expressed similar sentiments in the comments under the trailer.
If you're seeking less spoiler-heavy content about AKotSK, I recommend reading up on everything we know about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and discovering why it was nearly adapted into the first Game of Thrones movie instead of a series.
Once you're done, check out my review of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a glimpse of what lies ahead for Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg without revealing any spoilers.
