At CES 2026, Segway Navimow unveiled its latest flagship lawnbot, showcasing a unique feature that sets it apart from competitors. I had the opportunity to speak with Tony Ho, Vice President of Business Development, who explained how traditional lawnbots often damage grass during tight turns.

"When they turn, the wheels rub against the grass, which can harm it at the pivot point," he noted.

To address this issue, the new X4 series employs a novel approach. "The X4 features a mechanism that allows it to pivot while performing a crab walk. It's one of our proud inventions," he said. "We like to say, 'It's tough on the terrain, but gentle on the grass.'"

This durability is crucial, as the X4 is designed for larger, more challenging yards typical in North America.

Ho expressed his enthusiasm for the X4, stating, "It's a showcase of our best technology. I have high hopes for the X4; we believe it will be a standout this year."

Having tested its predecessor, the X3, which received a five-star rating in my review, I can attest to its impressive performance. However, the design of the X4 is markedly different, presenting a more aggressive aesthetic compared to the friendly look of the X3.

Initially, Ho had reservations about the X4's design, describing it as "a little bit stupid". He clarified that it targets a market segment that prefers robust-looking gadgets, particularly appealing to car enthusiasts rather than those seeking a cute robot.

The X4 is available in two models: the X430, suitable for up to an acre at $2,499, and the X450, designed for up to 1.5 acres at $2,999. A UK version is expected to join the lineup soon.
