- A new Hue Bridge update lays the groundwork for automation improvements
- Automations will soon be integrated with rooms and scenes
- No updates yet on the SpatialAware feature demonstrated at CES
If you own a Philips Hue Bridge or Bridge Pro, keep an eye out for a software update currently being rolled out. This update sets the stage for enhancements to smart-light automation.
According to Notebookcheck, the release notes for version 1975104000 (Hue Bridge v2) and version 2071193000 (Hue Bridge Pro) indicate that automations will soon be displayed alongside the rooms and zones they control.
Currently, the Philips Hue app features a separate Automations tab where users can find timers for waking up, going to sleep, motion-sensor triggers, and preset color cycles. These automations contribute to Philips Hue's reputation as some of the best smart lights available.
In the near future, automations will also be visible on the same screens where users manage their rooms and zones, making it easier to oversee everything at a glance.
Coming Soon
The latest Bridge update does not yet enable this feature, but it is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. We have reached out to Signify, the parent company of Philips Hue, for additional information and will provide updates if available.
Alongside the automation improvements, the update notes mention several minor changes that enhance the Bridges' performance, promising quicker responses and fewer issues moving forward.
While not included in this update, we are still eagerly anticipating the SpatialAware feature, which was announced at CES 2026 and is exclusive to the Hue Bridge Pro. This feature adjusts the lighting output based on the position of each light in a room, enhancing the overall ambiance.
To manage Hue Bridge updates, navigate to Settings in the app and select Software update. For convenience, enable Automatic update so your Hue devices can update themselves without manual intervention.
