Fellow produces high-end coffee equipment, including drip coffee makers, digital scales, and variable-temperature kettles, designed for coffee enthusiasts. However, there's a playful side to Fellow's products—each appliance includes a hidden retro-style video game that you can enjoy while sipping your morning brew.

Finding these games isn't straightforward, as they're not mentioned in Fellow's manuals. During my testing of the Fellow Aiden Precision Drip Coffee Maker in 2024, I was unaware of this feature until it was brought up at a barista skills workshop. Initially, I thought it was a joke, but these games are indeed real.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary in 2023, the company hosted a two-day competition, inviting coffee lovers to share photos of their high scores for a chance to win a $500 Fellow gift card, along with other prizes like insulated tumblers.

Each coffee-making appliance has its own unique game. The Aiden Precision Drip Coffee Maker features a Space Invaders-style game called Spacey, while the Stagg EKG and Corvo EKG kettles have Wormy, reminiscent of the classic Snake game. The Stagg EKG Pro kettles offer Bricky, a Breakout remake, and the Tally Pro Precision Scale includes Jumpy, similar to the Google Chrome Dinosaur Game.

As for the upcoming Fellow Espresso Series 1, it remains to be seen if it will introduce a new game while you enjoy your cortado (currently available for pre-order). Here’s how to play the existing games and prepare for future competitions.

1. Spacey

The Fellow Aiden Precision Brewer is not your typical drip coffee maker. It features customizable user profiles and a menu of brewing profiles for various coffee types—this is where you can find the hidden game, Spacey.

To access it, scroll through the menu to 'Edit profiles' using the large dial, then select 'Light roast'. Next, navigate to 'Name | Light Roast' and press the dial three times quickly.

You’ll control a tiny spaceship, moving it left and right with the dial, shooting at enemies and collecting Fellow logos.

2. Bricky

The EKG Pro kettles are designed for perfect pour-over coffee, allowing precise temperature control. They also hide a Breakout-style game. To find it, turn on the kettle, remove it from the base, press the menu button, and rotate the dial six times in either direction to launch the game.

Use the dial to move your paddle left and right, bouncing the ball to clear bricks. The game features multiple levels that increase in speed, and you have three lives. Your score resets when you start brewing coffee again, so take a picture to remember your achievements.

3. Wormy

If you own the original Stagg EKG kettle, you can access Wormy by toggling the temperature scale back and forth. This game is reminiscent of the classic Snake, where you control a worm that grows longer as it eats Fellow logos.

To start, turn on the kettle, remove it from the base, and flick the Centigrade/Fahrenheit toggle until the game loads on the screen. Use the dial to navigate and eat as many logos as possible.

4. Jumpy

The Tally Pro Precision Scale may be compact, but it also features a hidden game called Jumpy. This game is similar to the Chrome dinosaur game, where you control a character dodging obstacles.

To play, turn on the scale, select 'Brew Assist', and adjust the dial to the ratio 1:42. Press the timer button to start jumping.
