Nintendo is set to revive its 1995 Virtual Boy console by introducing the "Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics" collection to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. This initiative aims to provide players with access to a selection of classic Virtual Boy titles, including previously unreleased games, starting February 17, 2026.

Launch Lineup and Unreleased Titles

At launch, seven games will be available:

  • Galactic Pinball
  • 3-D Tetris
  • Teleroboxer
  • Virtual Boy Wario Land
  • The Mansion of Innsmouth (Innsmouth no Yakata)
  • Golf
  • Red Alarm

Additionally, nine more titles are planned for release throughout 2026, including:

  • Mario Clash
  • Mario's Tennis
  • Jack Bros.
  • Space Invaders Virtual Collection
  • Virtual Bowling
  • Vertical Force
  • V-Tetris
  • Zero Racers
  • Dragon Hopper

Notably, "Zero Racers" and "Dragon Hopper" were previously unreleased titles, despite being in seemingly complete states. "Zero Racers" is a Virtual Boy take on "F-Zero," while "Dragon Hopper" is a top-down platformer from Intelligent Systems, known today as the core developer of the "Fire Emblem" franchise. Accessing the Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics Collection

To play these games, subscribers will need to purchase a dedicated Virtual Boy accessory. Two versions are available: a plastic mount based on the original system and a more affordable cardboard model. Both are compatible with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles. These accessories are available for pre-order through the My Nintendo Store. (nintendo.com)

Color Change Feature

An additional feature planned for a later date is the ability to change the primary color of the image. The trailer shows that the retina-melting red can change to yellow, green, and even greyscale. However, this feature won't be available at launch. (gematsu.com)

Subscription Requirements

Access to the "Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics" collection requires a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This service is available in the United States and Canada. (nintendo.com)

Nintendo's revival of the Virtual Boy for Switch Online offers players a chance to experience a unique piece of gaming history, complete with unreleased titles and new features. This initiative reflects Nintendo's commitment to preserving and reintroducing classic gaming experiences to modern audiences.
