  • Amazon has announced that New World will shut down in 2027
  • The game has been delisted on all platforms, but existing owners can still log in for now
  • In-game currency purchases will not be refunded

Amazon has revealed the future of New World, and it unfortunately means the game will be shutting down in 2027.

According to a recent post on the New World blog, the game will officially go offline on January 31, 2027. This follows the announcement made in October 2025 that no new content updates would be released.

The game has now been removed from all platforms, although current owners can still log in during the final months of its operation.

“We want to thank the players for your dedication and passion,” the company stated. “We are grateful for the time spent crafting the world of Aeternum with you. Together we built something special. While we are saddened to say goodbye, we’re honored that we were able to share so much with the community.”

Even if you have purchased the game, access will be cut off after January 31, 2027. Amazon has also confirmed that there will be no refunds for in-game currency purchases, although the option to buy more will be disabled on July 20.

The company has committed to monitoring “bugs and performance” to ensure the game runs smoothly as it approaches its end.

If you're wondering about refunds, Amazon advises checking with customer support for the platform where you purchased the game.

New World launched for PC in September 2021, with an updated version titled New World: Aeternum set to release for Xbox Series X, Series S, and PlayStation 5 in October 2024.

The game was also featured in Amazon's Prime Video anthology series Secret Level, alongside the poorly received Sony live-service game Concord, which shut down after just two weeks on the market.
