  • A Sony launch event is scheduled for January 21
  • Rumors indicate the introduction of LinkBuds Clip earbuds
  • Anticipation continues for the Sony WF-1000XM6 earbuds

Sony has shared an intriguing teaser online, announcing a product launch for next Wednesday, January 21. The tagline hints at "a new form of listening," which suggests that new wireless earbuds are on the horizon.

The teaser was initially noted by The Walkman Blog, with additional insights from Dealabs suggesting that the Sony LinkBuds Clip earbuds will be featured at this event, rather than the Sony WF-1000XM6.

There have been numerous rumors surrounding the Sony WF-1000XM6 recently, and given our positive experience with the Sony WF-1000XM5, we are eager to see these new earbuds as well. However, they are expected to launch in February.

Instead of the WF-1000XM6, the focus will be on the Sony LinkBuds Clip, as per insider information. Previous models in the LinkBuds series include the Sony LinkBuds Open.

Rumored Specs

According to Dealabs, the LinkBuds Clip earbuds will carry the model number WF-LC900 and are expected to resemble the Huawei FreeClip or JBL Soundgear Clips, which were recently unveiled at CES 2026.

This design will feature a hook that secures the earbuds behind the ear for comfort during extended use, while maintaining a lightweight feel. The open-ear design is also anticipated to allow ambient sounds to pass through.

Reportedly, the earbuds will offer three listening modes, along with support for 360-degree reality audio and spatial sound personalization. Battery life is expected to be nine hours for the earbuds alone, with an additional 28 hours provided by the charging case.

They are likely to be IPX4 rated for water and sweat resistance, with four color options: black, green, purple, and cream. The anticipated launch price is $229.99 (approximately £170 / AU$345).

Stay tuned for updates on whatever Sony reveals next Wednesday, as we will cover it here.
