If you own a pair of Sony headphones, you might be unaware of a handy feature that can significantly enhance your listening experience.
This feature is found in several models, including the classic Sony WH-1000XM4, the stylish Sony WH-1000XM5, and the impressive Sony WH-1000XM6, which we consider among the best headphones available.
So, what is this intriguing feature? It’s called Quick Attention, and it has transformed my experience with the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones while out in public. Here’s how it works and why it’s so beneficial.
Attention, please!
Quick Attention is a mode on Sony headphones that allows you to quickly assess your surroundings.
To activate it, simply place your hand over the right earcup. This action triggers transparency mode, significantly lowering the volume of any media playing, enabling you to hear your environment. When you’re ready to return to your music, just remove your hand, and the audio resumes.
I find Quick Attention incredibly useful in the office; when someone wants to speak with me, I can cover the right earcup and engage in conversation without removing my headphones. I also use this feature in stores when I need to talk to the cashier or while on public transport to catch announcements—it’s quick, easy, and convenient.
While there are similar features, such as Sony’s Speak-to-Chat, which activates transparency mode when you speak, I’ve found it less reliable. If I sing along or even cough, it can trigger the mode unintentionally. Plus, I have to wait for my music to return to normal, which can be adjusted in the Sony SoundConnect app.
Quick Attention gives me more control. I can enable transparency mode exactly when I need it without accidental activations. Once I finish chatting, my music resumes immediately, providing a much smoother experience.
If you have Sony headphones, I highly recommend trying out Quick Attention—it has been a game-changer for me, and it could be for you as well.
