Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has addressed the potential for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the acclaimed role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3.

During a recent Reddit AMA, a fan inquired, "Baldur's Gate 3 for Switch 2? Is it even possible?" Vincke responded, "We would have loved to, but it wasn't our decision to make."

This statement follows the release of the "final major game patch" for Baldur's Gate 3 back in April 2025.

In the patch notes, the company expressed, "We’ve told our stories the way we needed to tell them, and tried our best to make them impactful and engaging. We’re continuing to get better at handling our own chaos so that we can continue to create more chaos in the future."

As Larian focuses on its next project, the upcoming Divinity installment, it seems the decision regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 port rests with Baldur's Gate 3 rights holder Wizards of the Coast.

Launched in August 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 has been hailed as one of the best RPGs of all time. Former Gaming Editor in Chief Jake Tucker described it as a "critical success" in our Baldur's Gate 3 review, awarding it a perfect score of five out of five.

While the absence of a Switch 2 port is disappointing, the game is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
