- A leaker claims the OnePlus Open 2 and OnePlus 15s might both have been canceled
- In both cases a very similar phone might be sold instead
- There's still a chance we could see a new OnePlus foldable next year
The OnePlus Open was among the top foldable phones when it debuted in 2023. Despite its acclaim, a successor seems increasingly unlikely.
According to Yogesh Brar, a reliable leaker, the OnePlus Open 2 has been canceled. It's unclear if this means it won't launch this year or if OnePlus is exiting the foldable market entirely.
Additionally, Brar indicated a 90% chance that the OnePlus 15s has also been scrapped.
Not Yet Mainstream
Why might this be happening? OnePlus previously stated that the market isn't mainstream enough for the Open 2, and this sentiment may still hold true.
However, with the anticipated iPhone Fold potentially launching this year, foldables could gain traction, possibly prompting OnePlus to reconsider its strategy for 2026.
Another factor in the cancellation may be that Oppo, OnePlus's parent company, is reportedly planning a global release for the Find N6. If the OnePlus Open 2 were to launch, it might simply be a rebranded Find N6, reducing the necessity for a separate model.
As for the OnePlus 15s, it was likely intended for the Indian market and would have been similar to the upcoming OnePlus 15T. OnePlus may have decided that offering two closely related models isn't necessary, although the availability of the 15T outside China remains uncertain.
While these cancellation rumors should be taken with caution, stay updated on our list of the best OnePlus phones for any new developments.
