- Lenovo CEO predicts a surge in AI PCs in workplaces soon
- While cost is a concern, productivity gains may outweigh it
- Lenovo acknowledges challenges in forecasting and planning for AI's future
The CEO of Lenovo, Yuanqing Yang, anticipates that by the end of 2026, approximately half of enterprise-ready computers will be AI-enabled, as this technology becomes increasingly prevalent.
During a media Q&A, Yang expressed optimism about the growing availability of AI PCs, though he acknowledged that cost remains a barrier to full adoption. "By the end of this year, we predict that around fifteen percent of PCs will be AI PCs," he stated at CES 2026, suggesting that devices featuring Lenovo's new Qira AI model could drive adoption rates even higher.
AI Everywhere
At CES 2026, Lenovo introduced a range of new enterprise devices, including powerful ThinkPad Carbon laptops and full PC towers.
Yang's confidence was evident during Lenovo's keynote at the Las Vegas Sphere, where he was joined by industry leaders including Nvidia's Jensen Huang and AMD's Lisa Su.
He emphasized that "AI is definitely not a bubble," asserting that it will play a crucial role in our future work environments. "Nobody can avoid AI, but it will not replace humans; it will empower us, helping us remember more, achieve more, and enhance our creativity," he noted.
Lenovo's SVP & CTO, Tolga Kurtoglu, added, "We view AI as a means to unleash human potential, augmenting our capabilities and acting as a symbiotic partner to boost productivity and efficiency."
When asked about the company's strategic outlook, Kurtoglu acknowledged the rapid pace of AI advancements presents challenges for a large organization like Lenovo. "A five-year roadmap for the AI era is unrealistic. It's about agility, adaptability, and speed, rather than trying to predict the future," he explained.
He further stated, "While we do have a roadmap, the pace of innovation means five years is too long. Our goal is to learn quickly from market dynamics to drive innovation based on user feedback."
