- SGNL acquisition would see CrowdStrike strengthen its identity management
- Non-human and agentic identities require a new strategy of continuous management
- CrowdStrike threatens to "disrupt the premise of modern privilege and access"
CrowdStrike has confirmed its acquisition of identity security startup SGNL for approximately $740 million in a predominantly cash deal, pending regulatory approval.
This acquisition is expected to enhance CrowdStrike's defenses against AI-driven cyber threats by facilitating access management for human, non-human, and AI identities.
According to IDC, the identity security market is projected to nearly double from $29 billion in 2025 to $56 billion by 2029, driven by a growing agentic workforce that necessitates a reevaluation of identity management strategies.
CrowdStrike to Acquire SGNL for an Identity Management Boost
"AI agents operate with superhuman speed and access, making every agent a privileged identity that must be protected," stated CrowdStrike CEI George Kurtz. "We’re disrupting the premise of modern privilege and access – for every identity, human or machine. This is identity security built for the AI era."
This next-generation approach will focus on real-time access control rather than static privileges. SGNL already continuously assesses user identity and behavior/risk signals.
"The world needs our technology to eliminate the significant risks posed by legacy standing privileges in today’s and tomorrow’s environments," added SGNL CEO Scott Kriz. "Joining CrowdStrike gives us the global scale needed to transform enterprise security through cybersecurity’s leading platform."
Despite a 2024 incident impacting share prices, CrowdStrike's stock has continued to rise, alongside a nearly one-third increase in company revenue in its most recent fiscal year.
The deal is anticipated to finalize during CrowdStrike's first quarter of fiscal 2027, around the end of April 2026. SGNL's employees are expected to remain with the company under its new ownership, ensuring no layoffs will occur as a result of the acquisition.
